Farmers' Market at Billings Forge
"Committed to sustainable agriculture
and the local food movement
within an urban environment"
Thursday 11am to 2pm, year-round
Billings Forge hosts Hartford’s largest farmers’ market. Farmers and food artisans travel from all over Connecticut to sell their fresh, delicious goods directly to consumers. The market spreads out over the large green space adjacent to the Firebox restaurant, where farmers are joined by musicians, artists, and crafters. In addition to produce, fruits, and flowers the market also features rustic breads, fresh dairy, Italian ice, eggs, jams, pickles, soaps, and locally roasted coffees.
Onsite, market-goers also have an opportunity to visit the Billings Forge’s Edible Community Garden where over 47 garden beds have been built using donated materials. These beds are maintained by community volunteers and families following sustainable and organic farming practices. Most of the plants are grown from seeds and produce more than 500 pounds of produce annually. In addition, the Garden provides herbs, flowers, and produce for use in the Firebox Restaurant, in The Kitchen at Billings Forge, and in The Kitchen's cooking classes.
